Come February, this awesome scene will be experienced by Filipino adults and children alike with the completion of the Manila Ocean Park just behind the Quirino Grandstand at the Rizal Park.

Mid morning of 16 November 2007, complaining of stomach pains, Jesus “Jessie” Bass, 53 walked into the St. Luke’s Medical Center so he could get the best possible health care.

Jessie was attended to and examined by Dr. Edgardo Bondoc who diagnosed him for acute appendicitis. Nonetheless, Dr. Bondoc did not refer Jessie, nor called the attention of any surgeon. In fact, Dr. Bondoc advised Jessie to go home and be an out-patient.

Wow….last year sure went fast! I’ve had to trade in some original body parts for more modular ones. We are another year older but hopefully, much, much wiser. It’s the year of the Rat… hmmm, wasn’t that last year’s theme? But Chinese astrology promises an auspicious year.

Being the eternal idealist that I am, I thought it would be fun to go around and collect wishes for the community. Perhaps the expressed wishes below may act as our compass in 2008.

Wish we may, wish we might have these wishes we wish for this New Year’s Night! Here’s what they had to say:

For the next year and the years ahead, I wish that more and more Filipinos in Australia would become decision-makers, managers, persons of influence, pioneers, innovators, entrepreneurs, lobbyists, politicians, prominent academicians and professionals, administrators and business owners.

Through concerted efforts of concerned people including his family, Staff Cadet Joel Cabides has been granted permanent residency. Prime Minister John Howard and related cabinet members have facilitated the process so that even the parents and siblings of Joel have received permanent residence.
