At present, two different Australia Philippines Services League (APSL) exist causing some confusion among retired military personnel in Australia. One is the group led by retired Philippine Air Force Col. Cresencio Pilao while the other is headed by retired Philippine Navy Commander and Vietnam War Veteran Ricardo Palenzuela.

Asia-Pacific and Intercontinental lightweight champion Ranee Ganoy will be only one bout away from a world lightweight championship if he disposes of Mexico’s Julio Diaz, rated 4th in the IBF (International Boxing Federation) world rankings on April 18.

The fight will be a world title ”eliminator” staged in Dubai, with the winner challenging the IBF world lightweight champion Juan Diaz for the crown.

Last month, Philippine Tribune printed some information about a certain “Roberto,” a Sydney-based Filipino boxer who committed suicide. The article was read by his friend who told us that his full name was Roberto Ruiz and that he hanged himself not in 1997 but on the 4th of February 2000. For reasons of privacy, his friend did not wish to be identified. We will refer to her as Britney (not her real name). This is her version of the story about Roberto.

I just want to add and clarify for the benefit of your readers and to set the record straight that at the time when we started the Fiesta, I, being the President of the Cebuano Speaking Association (CEBUSA) and Mila Alforque, the Vice President, approached the Parish Priest and Parish Council and convinced them of the viability of a Sinulog-like celebration similar to (the one being held in) Cebu City, Philippines.

Is this another form of “Pinoy corruption?”  Is someone behind the purchase of that new property in Schofields? Was there another sub-agent who could be a crony of the owner and the purchaser to let it go for a very good prize of (only) $1.15 million?

Assuming that these MPC managers are not aware that the property is in a flood zone; didn’t they employ a solicitor or a conveyancing agent? For that price, I am sure there is one. Didn’t they have a legal adviser or counsel?  It should have been his/her duty to investigate matters like being in a flood zone or if there is water/sewer connection.
