Cofradia del Senor Santo Nino iinvites all on the Feast of the Holy Infant Jesus on January 15, 2012 at the Good Shepherd Catholic Church at Hyatt Road, Plumpton NSW. Mass starts at 3:00pm to be followed by the annual procession. All are invited to bring images of the Santo Nino to be blessed during mass.

The procession will be followed by a feast where devotees will bring a plate to share with all attendees. There will also be an entertainment program during which various local talents will perform.

The Aklan Ati-Atihan Group, courtesy of Leonie and Ella Magallanes Martirez will perform. Once again, participants wearing colourful costumes will be dancing to the rhythmic beating of drums, sporadically shouting “Viva El Senor Santo Nino.”

Christmas Day becomes even more meaningful when individuals or groups do something to reach out and help other people.

The Filipino Australian Movement for Empowerment (FAME), handed over a cheque for $1,000 dollars to this writer, a member of Blacktown-based community group, Iliganon Lanaonon in Sydney Australia (ILISA). The donation goes directly to affected families of storm Sendong. (more…)

The news of the death of RJ Rosales spread faster than wildfire in cyberspace and the over-pouring of grief from a community in disbelief has been heart-wrenching to say the least.

RJ passed away at the prime of his life, at age 37 on Monday, 5 December 2011 at approximately 11:30am.

RJ Rosales was one of the community’s beloved sons. He sang and performed at community functions during his teens while still at university studying for a Mathematics degree which later landed him a job in the bank. (more…)
