Boboy Garrovillo, my APO buddy told me this amazing story which I would like to share with you. Boboy’s brother Rene had a friend who was in Shanghai recently. Like all tourists, she wanted to go pass by the market there. She saw a lot of things that attract all tourists but what stole her heart was a litter of ‘chowchow’ dogs that a vendor was selling. They were so cute and furry and lovable and she decided on the spot that she would buy one and take it home to Manila. She also bought a small cage to go with it and so she took the pet on the plane back to the Philippines. (more…)

Someone close to the Cojuangco-Aquinos hinted that president-elect Noynoy Aquino’s girlfriend is no other than Valenzuela City Councilor Shalani Soledad.

The 29 year old lady councilor graduated from De La Salle University – College of Saint Benilde with a degree in Human Resource Management. She used to work as executive staff to Senator Panfilo Lacson prior to being elected as councilor of the City of Valenzuela.

She was among the many mourners wearing black in the funeral of Cory Aquino. However, she intentionally distanced herself from the senator.

When I came to the Philippines, I thought that I was a missionary, bringing to the Filipinos the beautiful values of God. But I discovered when I got here, that the beautiful gifts of God had arrived, in the hearts of the people, long before I did.

It was a strange fulfillment of the truth in the Gospel; “You have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you.” The desire to become a missionary came to me when I was seven years old, in Grade Two, at Saint Mary’s Catholic School, in Elizabeth, New Jersey, U.S.A.

It never left me. I went to a Jesuit High School – Saint Peter’s Prep in Jersey City. I was fascinated by the gentleness, the wisdom, and the genuine desire of the teachers to show us how to live according to the law of God. (more…)

OVERSEAS PINOYS CARE MOVEMENT was formed by yours truly in the internet via Facebook. It aims to share with poor and needy Filipinos some of the blessings we enjoy in our adopted countries. We have members and supporters from more than 20 countries all over the world. They are Filipinos and other nationalities alike.

Our initial project is FLIP FLOPS FOR A CAUSE. We hope to collect and distribute flip flops to poor schoolchildren and their families in the Philippines, specifically in the province of Laguna. Flip Flops are also known as thongs or Japanese sandals or slippers. These can be old but wearable, or new, preferably in kids’ or small sizes. Our objective is at least 500 pairs by Christmas 2010. We hope to get enough to send before the start of the Philippine school year in June. (more…)
