Member for Riverstone and Leader of the House, the Honourable John Aquilina MP, announced the opening of the 13th annual Sports Safety Awards.

Mr Aquilina said 18 sports equipment vouchers – worth a total of $24,500 – are on offer to schools, sporting organisations and researchers across NSW. (more…)

Philippine Australia Sports & Culture Inc. will host its annual Ten Pin Bowling competition on Saturday, 07 August 2010 at the new Rooty Hill RSL AMF, at 55 Sherbrooke Street, Rooty Hill, NSW.

Registration starts at 1:15pm up to 1:45pm. Roll off will start promptly at 2:00pm. Entry fee is only $35 per person or $70 per team.

Tournament format is 9-pin, no tap, meaning that 9 pinfalls on the first ball will be considered a strike. (more…)

The Ateneo Alumni Association of Australia has soundly beaten its archrival La Salle Alumni in their annual golf competition held on May 1, 2010 at Linwood Golf Course in Pitt Town near Kellyville. The format played on the links course was System 36 with the best 4 scores counted.

The Philippine – Australian Sports and Culture (PASC), Inc. Sydney delegation achieved its “mission impossible” in basketball and golf during the 34th National Aust-Fil Int’l Sports Goodwill Games held in Perth, Western Australia during the Easter break.

In basketball, the crippled 8-member basketball team, PASC Sydney Amigos achieved remarkable result by winning the grand finals.

Sydney defeated confident-laden Team FABA Adelaide, 78 – 36 and Mandurah Country, WA, 64 – 36 but lost to high flyers Team Singapore Distellera 65 – 71. (more…)

It was a clean sweep for the Patrician Brothers basketball team as they won in all three categories of the championship games against St. Dominic of Penrith. Indeed, the Patrician players bolstered their school motto of “A healthy mind should go with a healthy body.”

It was the first time in the history of this catholic school to be champions in basketball. Thanks to the strong school support, motivating coaches, and the overwhelming presence of school mates who cheered their team to victory. (more…)
