It\u2019s time to get into the \u201cAnimo La Salle\u201d spirit! The De La Salle Alumni Association of Australia will be holding their \u201cOne La Salle Homecoming Celebration\u201d on 29 October 2011 at 7pm at Clarion Hotel on the Park at Parramatta, NSW. <\/p>\n
The Green Archers\u2019 dinner-dance will commemorate the centennial anniversary of the founding of De La Salle schools in the Philippines by the Christian Brothers. <\/p>\n
From its pioneering days in Paco (Manila) with only a hundred students, De La Salle was moved to its popular Taft Avenue location in 1921. It was granted university status in 1975. De La Salle has now expanded to other institutions of study and learning around the country and is considered one of the more prestigious schools in the Philippines. <\/p>\n
The centennial celebrations here in Australia will also coincide with the DLSAA Centennial World Congress in the Philippines, which will be a joint meet of the UMAEL (Union Mundial of the Antiguos Alumnus LaSallistas), the world union of La Salle former students and the alumni of all De La Salle schools. The Christian Brothers along with their former students worldwide meet every four years to map out future directions. They have been proactive on children\u2019s human rights and have currently over 250 global projects on kids. <\/p>\n
Ed Davila, incumbent president [of the local alumni association] calls on all La Sallians and friends to join them for the centennial celebrations. \u201cLet us perpetuate the precepts that have been embodied in us by our alma mater. Together we can live up to ideals of one La Salle,\u201d says Ed. <\/p>\n
And here\u2019s the best part! For La Sallians whose membership fees are up to date, the cost is free. For non-members and guests the cost is $50.00. <\/p>\n
