{"id":160,"date":"2009-01-13T03:22:43","date_gmt":"2009-01-12T17:22:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.philippinesentinel.org\/?p=160"},"modified":"2009-01-13T03:22:43","modified_gmt":"2009-01-12T17:22:43","slug":"aquilina-welcomes-signing-of-quakers-hill-to-schofields-agreement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.philippinesentinel.org\/?p=160","title":{"rendered":"Aquilina welcomes signing of Quakers Hill to Schofields Agreement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Member for Riverstone, John Aquilina MP, has welcomed news that an agreement has been signed for the delivery of the $234 million Quakers Hill to Schofields rail duplication.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Aquilina said the signing of the Project Alliance was an important step forward to delivering the rail line duplication.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis agreement brings together the parties who will be responsible for building the rail duplication project,\u201d Mr Aquilina said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a positive development for the local community who want to see the benefits of such rail infrastructure.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen built, the duplication will increase reliability on the Richmond Railway Line and importantly increase the capacity to run more services.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Mr Aquilina said the project would deliver over three kilometres of new railway track between Quakers Hill and Schofields.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am upset that the new Schofields train station is to be located around 800 metres from the current station, causing much disruption to the existing Schofields business and residential community.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHowever, the new Schofields train station will have commuter car parking facilities and a bus interchange, as well as easy access and other pedestrian facilities,\u201d Mr. Aquilina said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cQuakers Hill Railway Station will also receive a make over with the replacement of the pedestrian level crossings to improve access across the rail track.\u201c The Project Alliance has been signed with:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Government\u2019s Transport Infrastructure Development Corporation (TIDC);<\/li>\n<li>Leighton Contractors;<\/li>\n<li>Maunsell AECOM;<\/li>\n<li>Sinclair Knight Merz SKM;<\/li>\n<li>MVM Rail and<\/li>\n<li>Ansaldo STS.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cWork is currently being done on an Environmental Assessment for the Project which will be put out for public comment early next year.
