NSW Minister for Transport David Campbell today announced a new commuter car park will be built at Quakers Hill. Mr Campbell and Riverstone MP John Aquilina visited Quakers Hill station to make the announcement.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis upgrade to Quakers Hill station parking comes as part of the Government\u2019s $56 million Commuter Car Park program announced in last years Mini-Budget,\u201d Mr Campbell said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen the Government made this announcement, John and the local community pushed to ensure that Quakers Hill would get the additional parking spaces it needs. \u201cToday I\u2019m pleased to announce that Quakers Hill will be one of the first stations to benefit from a share of these spots, with an estimated 200 to be built.\u201d <\/p>\n

Mr Campbell said the Government will undertake a detailed investigation of potential sites to determine the scope of works before tenders are called for construction. \u201cWork on finding a suitable site and preparing a development application will start straight away, with construction expected to begin in 2010,\u201d Mr Campbell said. \u201cIt is expected that people will be able to use the carpark in 2011.\u201d<\/p>\n
Member for Riverstone John Aquilina welcomed the announcement and said it was a win for the local community. \u201cThis is great news. The Premier and Transport Minister have listened to the community and this new carpark will be delivered,\u201d Mr Aquilina said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe current parking facilities at Quakers Hill have proved popular and a new facility will allow even more people access to public transport services.” \u201cThis is an important project and we\u2019ll be working hard to make sure we get it right for the people of Quakers Hill \u2013 that means providing for capacity to meet demand now and into the future as patronage builds.”<\/p>\n
