font-family: 'Arial Narrow'\">August 6, 2008. She was unconscious<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'Arial Narrow'\"> for 5 months after being shot in the forehead during a jeepney hold-up in the morning of her birthday. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 3pt; font-family: 'Arial Narrow'\"><o:p>\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'Arial Narrow'\">As of this writing, she has recovered from her comatose state and has long been transferred from ICU. She can now breathe 100% on her own, without the aid of a respirator. Her family longs to take her home. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 3pt; font-family: 'Arial Narrow'\"><o:p>\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'Arial Narrow'\">However, hospital authorities will not release her until her bills are paid. To date, hospital expenses have amounted to 1.8 million pesos (AUD56,250). This amount does not include the cost of medicine and doctor\u2019s fees.<\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 3pt; font-family: 'Arial Narrow'\"><span>\u00a0<\/span><o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'Arial Narrow'\">Many people have donated money. Many more have spread the word through blogs, e-mail, and text messages.<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 3pt; font-family: 'Arial Narrow'\"><o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 3pt; font-family: 'Arial Narrow'\"><o:p>\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'Arial Narrow'\">Yet more money is needed. Apparently, prayers are not enough. Concrete action is needed.<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 3pt; font-family: 'Arial Narrow'\"> <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'Arial Narrow'\">What can we do?<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 3pt; font-family: 'Arial Narrow'\"><o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 3pt; font-family: 'Arial Narrow'\"><o:p>\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'Arial Narrow'\">1) Make a donation. Any amount will do. Send the money to <st1:place w:st=\"on\">Tara<\/st1:place>&#8216;s mother, Anne Santelices. Please call Philippine Tribune for her address and telephone number. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 3pt; font-family: 'Arial Narrow'\"><o:p>\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'Arial Narrow'\">2) Find ways how your organization can raise funds through its current projects. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 3pt; font-family: 'Arial Narrow'\"><o:p>\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'Arial Narrow'\">3) Spread the word and ask everyone else to spread the word. Share <st1:place w:st=\"on\">Tara<\/st1:place>&#8216;s story and her family&#8217;s need for financial help. Just keep spreading the word and it&#8217;s bound to reach people who can actually donate or organize fund-raising events <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 3pt; font-family: 'Arial Narrow'\"><o:p>\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'Arial Narrow'\">It is only by reaching out to a larger community that we can actually hope to achieve something for Tara Santelices.
