Darwin\u2019s proximity to Asia is the primary reason behind the charter flights, Wild Orchid\u2019s director for global operations David Fleming said.<\/p>\n<p>Darwin, part of Australia\u2019s Northern Territory, is only three and a half hours from Cebu, which is considered one of the Philippines\u2019 popular tourist destinations. <\/p>\n<p>Wild Orchid Airlines will offer direct charter flights based on peak demand.<br \/>\nThe charter flights will operate for 20 Saturdays starting December 15. The weekly service is scheduled to run until Dec. 28, 2013. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cDarwin\u2019s proximity to Asia gives us great opportunities. The reality is that our population base cannot sustain additional permanent regular weekly air services to new Asian destinations such as Cebu.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>To service the Darwin-Cebu route, the airline has hired a Boeing 737 and crew from Qantas, Australia\u2019s flag carrier. It offers full-service economy and business-class accommodations. <\/p>\n<p>The direct charter flights will depart from Darwin at 1 p.m. every Saturday.
