{"id":2487,"date":"2013-03-07T16:16:12","date_gmt":"2013-03-07T16:16:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.philippinesentinel.org\/?p=2487"},"modified":"2013-03-07T16:16:12","modified_gmt":"2013-03-07T16:16:12","slug":"international-atm-card-scam-hits-the-philippines","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.philippinesentinel.org\/?p=2487","title":{"rendered":"International ATM card scam hits the Philippines"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">MANILA.<\/span><\/strong> \u2013 An international modus operandi involving ATM cards has reached the Philippines and already siphoned off &#8220;millions of pesos.&#8221;<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>A local newspaper report quotes banking officials as saying the syndicate specializes in duplicating ATM cards and capturing PIN numbers to withdraw cash from victims&#8217; accounts.<\/p>\n<p>One blogger, Spanky Enriquez, posted on his blog saying his ATM card was compromised.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cApparently, some Banco De Oro (BDO) cards have been compromised by a kind of security breach by hackers \u2014 at least, that&#8217;s what I was made to understand when the screen of the ATM turned a bright red when I tried to withdraw cash.
