{"id":2698,"date":"2013-07-05T04:23:37","date_gmt":"2013-07-05T04:23:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.philippinesentinel.org\/?p=2698"},"modified":"2013-07-05T04:23:37","modified_gmt":"2013-07-05T04:23:37","slug":"blacktown-liberals-vote-to-sell-off-community-parks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.philippinesentinel.org\/?p=2698","title":{"rendered":"Blacktown Liberals vote to sell off Community Parks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Blacktown Federal MPs, <strong>Michelle Rowland<\/strong> and <strong>Ed Husic<\/strong>, have condemned the latest decision by the Liberals in Blacktown Council to sell off 33 local parks and reserves for residential development and called on the Federal Liberal candidates in Blacktown to state a position on the decision.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>In a motion moved by <strong>Liberal Cr Jess Diaz<\/strong>, 33 parks and reserves in Blacktown, Seven Hills, Kings Langley, Marayong, Quakers Hill, Kings Park, Doonside, Whalan, Emerton, Shalvey, Hebersham and Hassall Grove have been put on a Liberal Party hit list.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is now time for Liberal candidates in Blacktown to step up and say whether they back the motion proposed by Cr Diaz and supported by his Liberal colleagues,\u201d Ms Rowland said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know many families enjoy these public parks and use them for a variety of activities throughout the week and especially on weekends.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur public spaces should be left to the public to enjoy. Once they are rezoned and developed, they are gone forever.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe really worrying thing about this is the complete lack of community consultation.
