The tandem of Jennifer Rosales and Dorothy Delasin of Team Philippines bagged the fourth edition of the Women’s World Cup of golf in Sun City, South Africa Sunday following an impressive finish that included four birdies in the last four holes.<\/p>\n
Rosales and Delasin had a final round of seven-under-par 65 in the best ball (each team member playing their own ball with the best score on each hole counting) to give them a 54-hole aggregate of 18-under-par 198, according to an Agence France Press online report.<\/p>\n
\u201cThanks to all you fans out there and thanks to Dorothy for the wonderful golf she played,\u201d said a tearful Rosales after she and her partner had collected the trophy.

\n“This win was all about the teamwork and the team spirit Jennifer and I enjoyed over the three days and it’s a win we want to dedicate to the people of the Philippines,” said Delasin who like Rosales, campaigns on
\nthe LPGA Tour.<\/p>\n
“I was all ready today (Saturday). I was hitting it well off the tees. The majority of the time Jennifer was hitting the approach shots and I was making sure that I was getting it in the fairway for her and so that’s what I did. It was really good today; we were having a good time. Actually our goal today was to shoot even par. We just clicked all day today and it was like a really smooth round,” said Delasin in an interview posted at www.LPGA.com.<\/p>\n
Delasin made a 15-foot putt for birdie on the 15th hole and a chip-in from off the green on 16 was a telling moment as it gave the Philippines the lead for the first time since the fifth hole, which they bogeyed. Her eight-foot putt from the fringe just inched its way into the hole on 17 to put them in front by two.<\/p>\n
Dorothy Delasin and Jennifer Rosales shared US$280,000 for winning first place.<\/p>\n
The LPGA Web site said Rosales, who had her rookie year in 2000, now has career earnings reaching $2,199,986. Delasin, who also joined the LPGA the same year as Rosales, now, has a total win of $2,527,304.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
