{"id":3398,"date":"2014-10-04T18:43:18","date_gmt":"2014-10-04T18:43:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.philippinesentinel.org\/?p=3398"},"modified":"2014-10-04T18:43:18","modified_gmt":"2014-10-04T18:43:18","slug":"protect-yourself-when-booking-holidays-say-australian-governments","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.philippinesentinel.org\/?p=3398","title":{"rendered":"Protect yourself when booking holidays, say Australian governments"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A new campaign by Australia\u2019s consumer protection agencies is reminding travellers of the simple steps they can take to protect their travel and holiday bookings.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Director of Consumer Affairs Victoria Dr Claire Noone says that increased competition and the growth of online bookings has changed the way people plan and purchase their trips. \u201cFor some people, booking a holiday might be a quick and simple process, while others put a lot of time and effort into planning their trips.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe know that Australians love travelling, and many go back to their countries of origin to visit family and friends,\u201d says Dr. Noone.<\/p>\n<p>Statistics show that Australians made nine million trips overseas in the past year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is easy to get too excited about a holiday and forget about the simple precautions you should be taking to protect your purchase.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dr Noone says that apart from protections that all consumers have under the Australian Consumer Law, there are some basic steps they can take to protect their purchases.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cReputation and customer service is a really simple way of making sure that your holiday is going to be a great one,\u201d says Dr Noone.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLook at reviews and ask family, friends and others in your community for their recommendations. If you are booking with a travel agent, check that they are accredited.
