She watched Bamboo\u2019s only concert in the Australian east coast\u00a0 last March 27.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>For many, it was worth the long travel. <strong>Bamboo Ma\u00f1alac<\/strong> is the Philippines\u2019 Prince of Rock and a well-respected, award-winning singer and songwriter. Fresh from his sold out concerts in US, Canada, Ireland, Japan, and recently Dubai, the former Rivermaya front man and now \u2018Coach Bamboo\u201d of <em>The Voice <\/em>(Philippines) performed his greatest hits including <em>Noypi, Ulan, Elisi, <\/em>214, <em>Hallelujah<\/em>, and <em>Awit ng Kabataan<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Bamboo\u2019s concert was held at the Whitlam Centre, Liverpool, a modern stadium with a maximum capacity of 3,200 people. Supporting the concert were very promising local performers: Trinity Young, Henna Perez, Ylona Garcia; and Sydney and Melbourne rock bands <em>Kakulay<\/em>, Negative Saints and Our Tribe.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBamboo is a rock icon whose songs define our generation and whose staying power in the music industry is admirable. When he left Rivermaya in 1998 at the peak of the band\u2019s career, we waited for five years for him to return. And return big time he did. With his hit song <em>Noypi<\/em>, Bamboo once again became the voice of the Filipinos, no matter who or where you are.\u00a0 \u00a0The songs in his new album <em>No Water No Moon<\/em> are generally more melodic than his previous hits but it doesn&#8217;t \u00a0change our view that Bamboo is still the same musical, creative genius that he is.
