The Australian Democrats Lead Candidate for the NSW Legislative Council, Mr Rendall Wagner believes\u00a0that\u00a0“Recent\u00a0TAFE\u00a0fee hikes\u00a0show\u00a0that the current Liberal \u00a0government\u00a0has lost sight of the fact that the best way to maintain a competitive workforce is through supporting \u00a0adult \u00a0learning \u00a0and\u00a0re\u00ad-training”. “How are we meant to ensure that our workforce has the ever changing skills in a fast moving technological world if governments implement counter\u00ad-intuitive solutions like hikes in TAFE fees? Cost shouldn’t be a roadblock to further education for the people of NSW.”<\/p>\n
Mr Wagner wants to remind the\u00a0Liberal\u00a0government\u00a0that “The NSW workforce is now a very competitive workforce. The reality is that we have people with MBAs packing in factories and university leavers working in call\u00a0centres.\u00a0Many of us recognise that learning is now lifelong so we retrain\u00a0to remain relevant and\/or continue to develop skills and knowledge for economic \u00a0competitiveness. Many of us acquire\u00a0that retraining and learn new skills and acquire new \u00a0knowledge in our TAFEs”.<\/p>\n
Mr Wagner went on to say “It’s important for people to have faith in our TAFE system.
