{"id":3774,"date":"2015-06-05T18:24:42","date_gmt":"2015-06-05T18:24:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.philippinesentinel.org\/?p=3774"},"modified":"2015-06-05T18:24:42","modified_gmt":"2015-06-05T18:24:42","slug":"unpaid-receivables-of-2013-and-2014","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.philippinesentinel.org\/?p=3774","title":{"rendered":"Unpaid Receivables of 2013 and 2014"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There was\u00a0an earlier email on this subject sent out to several recipients\u00a0by the\u00a02014 PCC Treasurer Mr. Danny Peralta, questioning the validity if not the legality of the processes by which this audit and the\u00a0re-convening of the Annual\u00a0General Meeting to ratify it\u00a0is being called&#8230;which\u00a0up to this writing have not been addressed by\u00a0the Immediate Past President, Mr. <strong>Jose Relunia Jr<\/strong>. \u00a0and the External Auditor, <strong>Mr. Leo Ceniza.<!--more--><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Notwithstanding the issues contained in the said email,\u00a0I would like to make some queries: what happens\u00a0now with the numerous\u00a0 disbursements of the past (2013)\u00a0and immediate past (2014) PCC-NSW Board\u00a0that\u00a0were not duly supported by receipts or acknowledgement of receipts as shown in this statement?\u00a0Are we just leaving those at that? Who will ensure\u00a0that\u00a0those who have received money and entrusted huge amount of community funds are made accountable?\u00a0Will it again be a forgive and\u00a0forget? That if we win the next election of officers&#8230;we are condoned of\u00a0the wrong doings of the past?\u00a0Are we sending a\u00a0[wrong] signal\u00a0to future officers and directors of the PCC Board that it is ok to do the same using precedence as an excuse?\u00a0 That it is ok to handle community funds and not be accountable for it? That if an &#8220;externally audited&#8221; Financial Statement (no matter how many pages of qualified opinion and auditor&#8217;s recommendation is in it)\u00a0is approved by the general membership, everything is ok and will be forgiven and\u00a0forgotten?<\/p>\n<p>And what about the now ageing list of receivables?\u00a0Shouldn&#8217;t those responsible for those bad accounts be held accountable? Or is it safe to say that by a mere board resolution we can just\u00a0&#8220;write them off&#8221;?\u00a0And again send a wrong signal to future board members and the community \u2014 that it is OK not to pay your tickets to the ball and advertisements to the souvenir program because PCC-NSW will eventually write them off.<\/p>\n<p>What will motivate anyone to\u00a0sell tickets\u00a0and remit payments\u00a0when he or she knows that others can\u00a0give away tickets with a promise to pay?\u00a0Can we spend or give &#8220;a promise&#8221; to charity?\u00a0 Can we buy relief goods based on mere promise to pay?<\/p>\n<p>What will motivate me to solicit advertisements for the souvenir program when in the back of my\u00a0mind \u2014 hey, I can have this ad printed and just make a promise to pay.\u00a0What values&#8230;what culture of morality are we building within the &#8220;council&#8221; and the Filipino community?\u00a0 Is this the legacy we promised or is this a legacy of &#8220;I promise&#8221;?<\/p>\n<p>Again, I am just asking for &#8220;fair dinkum&#8221; sake!
