{"id":3964,"date":"2015-10-04T17:03:13","date_gmt":"2015-10-04T17:03:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.philippinesentinel.org\/?p=3964"},"modified":"2015-10-04T17:03:13","modified_gmt":"2015-10-04T17:03:13","slug":"womanizer-disbarred-by-supreme-court","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.philippinesentinel.org\/?p=3964","title":{"rendered":"Womanizer disbarred by Supreme Court"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>For serial womanizing and other grossly immoral acts, a long time lawyer has been stripped of his license to practice law.<!--more--><\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Supreme Court en has disbarred <strong>Ian Raymond Pangalangan<\/strong> for violating the Code of Professional Responsibility and Lawyer\u2019s Oath, ordering his name to be immediately stricken off the Roll of Attorneys for his illicit pursuits.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sued by scorned husband<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Pangalangan, a married man who had been practicing law since 1991, was exposed when a fellow lawyer sued him in 2007 for \u201cillicit relations, chronic womanizing\u201d and other \u201cunscrupulous practices\u201d that betray the values demanded of those in the practice.<\/p>\n<p>Complainant lawyer <strong>Roy Ecraela<\/strong> was among the many husbands Pangalangan had scorned: the former\u2019s wife is one among the several women with whom the latter had had extramarital attachments.<\/p>\n<p>In his complaint, Ecraela cited Pangalangan\u2019s string of indiscretions, including relationships \u201cwith a number of married or unmarried women \u2026 some of which were simultaneously occurring, even while respondent was himself married.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In an en banc ruling on Tuesday, the high court upheld the Integrated Bar of the Philippines\u2019 (IBP) decision to kick Pangalangan out of the legal profession as it found \u201cpreponderant evidence\u201d that the respondent had been \u201ccommitting gross immorality in the conduct of his personal affairs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe practice of law is a privilege given to those who possess and continue to possess the legal qualifications for the profession.
