{"id":4043,"date":"2015-11-02T18:13:35","date_gmt":"2015-11-02T18:13:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.philippinesentinel.org\/?p=4043"},"modified":"2015-11-02T18:13:35","modified_gmt":"2015-11-02T18:13:35","slug":"makati-mayor-dismissed-by-ombudsman","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.philippinesentinel.org\/?p=4043","title":{"rendered":"Makati Mayor dismissed by Ombudsman"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Makati Mayor <strong>Junjun Binay<\/strong>, the son of <strong>Vice President<\/strong> <strong>Jejomar Binay<\/strong>\u2014along with 19 other city officials \u2014 has been perpetually barred from government service by the Office of the Ombudsman over the alleged anomalous construction of the P2.28-billion Makati City Hall Building II.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The decision of the anti-graft body may signal the end of the Binay family\u2019s decades long stranglehold on the city where the country\u2019s main financial district is located.<\/p>\n<p>Only a few hours before, Binay\u2019s father, a declared candidate for President, had just launched his opposition United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) party in Cebu province.<\/p>\n<p>Serious dishonesty<\/p>\n<p>Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales ordered the dismissal of Binay <em>et al<\/em>. from public service after they were found to be administratively liable for grave misconduct and serious dishonesty in the construction of the 11-story structure, described as \u201cthe most expensive parking building in the entire country.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In a separate order, Morales meted out the same penalty on detained Masbate Gov.
