{"id":5039,"date":"2018-04-27T05:23:40","date_gmt":"2018-04-26T19:23:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.philippinesentinel.org\/?p=5039"},"modified":"2018-04-27T05:23:40","modified_gmt":"2018-04-26T19:23:40","slug":"duterte-ordered-probe-of-australian-nun-for-disorderly-conduct","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.philippinesentinel.org\/?p=5039","title":{"rendered":"Duterte ordered probe of Australian nun for \u2018disorderly conduct\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>He criticized Australian government for \u2018human rights\u2019 violations.<br \/>\nIt turned out that it was President Duterte himself who ordered the arrest and detention of Australian nun for what he considered \u2018disorderly conduct.\u2019 He admitted that he ordered the Bureau of Immigration to investigate Sister Patricia Fox which led to her temporary detention.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Duterte categorically made this admission during his speech at the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) in Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was not the military who arrested the Catholic nun from Australia,\u201d the President said. \u201cIt was upon my orders implemented by the Bureau of Immigration. And I take full responsibility, legal or otherwise, for this incident.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On April 16 agents from the Bureau of Immigrations arrested Fox, a missionary nun at her home in Quezon City. She was brought to the   Immigration headquarters in Manila.<\/p>\n<p>Du30 said he would not allow foreigners to criticize him.<\/p>\n<p>The chief executive said he could only take criticisms from Filipinos but would not allow foreigners to attack him. \u201cLook, I\u2019m addressing the Filipino nation,\u201d he said. \u201cI can swallow, I can take all attacks from the Lumads, to the highest religious orders of all sorts, from my brother Moro, from the military, from everybody.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As a politician, he said he had been \u201cenduring attacks\u201d but said he would not let any foreigner insult him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPero kung insultuhin ako, and in the cloak of being just a Catholic priest, and you are a foreigner, who are you?\u201d he said. He said meddling by foreigners in domestic affairs of the Philippines would be \u201ca violation of sovereignty.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Right to deport \u2018undesirable aliens\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Only the \u201cgood\u201d people should be allowed entry to the Philippines, he said. \u201cDo not insult my country. Because you come here and go. We never did that to Australia. We never did that to European country,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Philippine law provides that I can deport you or refuse you entry if you are an undesirable alien,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The President slammed Fox for criticizing the Philippine government but failed to look at her own country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIkaw, madre, why don\u2019t you criticize your own government? The way you handled the refugees, hungry and dying, and you turn them back to the open sea,\u201d he said.<br \/>\nHe said Australia has worse human rights violations compared to the Philippines.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYour god is not my god. Remember that. Stick to your own religion and try to correct the abuses within your organization.
