{"id":5150,"date":"2018-06-29T02:37:09","date_gmt":"2018-06-28T16:37:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.philippinesentinel.org\/?p=5150"},"modified":"2018-06-29T02:37:09","modified_gmt":"2018-06-28T16:37:09","slug":"doj-allows-sister-patricia-fox-to-remain-in-the-philippines","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.philippinesentinel.org\/?p=5150","title":{"rendered":"DOJ allows Sister Patricia Fox to remain in the Philippines"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Australian missionary sister <strong>Patricia Fox<\/strong> can remain in the Philippines as the Department of Justice (DOJ) has reversed the order of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) that downgraded her missionary visa to a tourist visa. <!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The DOJ granted the petition filed by Sister Fox, saying the BI has no legal right to forfeit visas. Many people from the Philippines and Australia believe that it was President Duterte >>>> through his minions who ordered the deportation of the missionary nun. <\/p>\n<p>A spokesman from the DOJ explained that while Philippine Immigration laws give the BI broad powers in regulating the entry and stay of aliens in the country, visa forfeiture is not among those powers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur existing immigration laws outline what the BI can do to foreigners and their papers\u2014including visas\u2014when they commit certain acts within Philippine territory.
