Kevin Walsh in Stanhope"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There has been much shock, disappointment and sadness brought to the parishioners of Blessed John XXIII Parish in Stanhope NSW by the recent announcement that Fr. Kevin Walsh would be transferred to Quakers Hill. He is to be replaced by Fr. David Hume effective on the 1st of May 2010. <\/p>\n<p>The church goers in the area love Fr. Walsh so much that they have signed a petition asking the Bishop of Parramatta to retain him. They find absolutely no valid reason why the good priest has to be replaced. <\/p>\n<p>The parish of Blessed John XXIII is usually full on weekends because the laity loves to listen to homilies delivered by Fr. Kevin. To say that he connects well with the parishioners is an understatement. Even the children love him so much that they all rush to the altar immediately after mass to receive his blessings. After mass, people congregate in front of the church waiting for Fr. Kevin to come out just to shake hands with him and have small talk with the good priest. <\/p>\n<p>It is foreseen that there would be a decline in attendance in Stanhope Gardens should the planned transfer materialize.
