MANILA, Philippines – Sen. Richard Gordon bared that he is considering going back to private law practice after he lost in his presidential bid in the May 10 elections.<\/p>\n
Gordon, whose term in the Senate ends on June 30, also plans to pursue his dream to modernize the Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC), of which he is chairman.<\/p>\n
Gordon, a former associate at the prestigious Angara Abello Concepcion Regala & Cruz (ACCRA) law offices, said a return to private law practice is an option.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s something I am considering. There\u2019s a prohibition I cannot go to private practice right away. I might go into some law office. You know I was in the ACCRA law before, I don\u2019t know if I will go back to ACCRA,\u201d Gordon said.<\/p>\n
Gordon said Sen. Edgardo Angara, one of the founding partners of ACCRA, had hinted to him that he can rejoin ACCRA but he has not made up his mind.<\/p>\n
Gordon did not discount the possibility of joining the Cabinet of president-apparent Sen. Benigno \u201cNoynoy\u201d Aquino III but only if he is offered a post. <\/p>\n
He said he \u201cloves the country\u201d that much that he is ready to set aside political differences and rally behind the next president. <\/p>\n
Asked by the Senate media how he would describe his stay at the Senate, Gordon said he enjoyed his years at the Senate.<\/p>\n
Gordon admitted that he used his P200-million Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) to purchase ambulances for the PNRC. He appealed to President Arroyo to release his PDAF to enable him to pay for the pending procurement of the ambulances.<\/p>\n
He announced that the PNRC would have its first amphibian van to further equip the agency in its emergency and disaster assistance operations.<\/p>\n
