{"id":820,"date":"2010-08-12T04:35:19","date_gmt":"2010-08-11T18:35:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.philippinesentinel.org\/?p=820"},"modified":"2010-08-12T04:35:19","modified_gmt":"2010-08-11T18:35:19","slug":"popular-tv-show-scrapped","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.philippinesentinel.org\/?p=820","title":{"rendered":"Popular TV show scrapped"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>, Philippines \u2013 It\u2019s definitely goodbye for a popular daily noontime show as the television network that launched it decided to replace it starting on July 31, 2010. <\/p>\n<p>In an official statement, ABS-CBN said that \u201cPilipinas For The Win (PFTW) would take the place of \u201cWowowee.\u201d<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The new program was described as a \u201cgame and variety show that would give Filipinos happiness and hope,\u201d network officials said.<\/p>\n<p>It added that former \u201cWowowee\u201d host Willie Revillame has been informed of the development through his manager. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Si Willie Revillame, sa pamamagitan ng kanyang manager, ay nasabihan na tungkol sa pagbabagong ito,\u201d ABS-CBN said.<\/p>\n<p>The management of ABS-CBN added that hosting of the new program would be given to Revillame at the right time. <\/p>\n<p>The new show will have action star Robin Padilla and Kris Aquino as its hosts, along with former mainstays of \u201cWowowee\u201d Mariel Rodriguez, Valerie Concepcion and comedian Pokwang.<\/p>\n<p>Padilla became a temporary host of \u201cWowowee\u201d for a week following Revillame\u2019s sudden departure from the show after a much-publicized dispute with showbiz radio commentator Jobert Sucaldito.<\/p>\n<p>At the helm of PFTW are Director Johnny Manahan, creative Director Edgar Mortiz, Business Unit Head Jay Montelibano, Executive Producers Phoebe Anievas and Rancy Recato.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWowowee\u201d first went on air in 2005. In 2006, 71 people were killed in a stampede at the Ultra Stadium in Pasig City during the first year anniversary show of the popular noontime program.
