Member for Riverstone and Leader of the House, the Honourable John Aquilina MP, announced the opening of the 13th annual Sports Safety Awards.<\/p>\n
Mr Aquilina said 18 sports equipment vouchers \u2013 worth a total of $24,500 \u2013 are on offer to schools, sporting organisations and researchers across NSW.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe awards recognise outstanding achievement in the research and prevention of sports-related injuries and the adoption of safe sport practices,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cParticipation in sport forms an important part of the community activities of the Riverstone Electorate and of our local schools.\u201d<\/p>\n
The awards are an opportunity for sporting groups to demonstrate their commitment to improving safety in sport by promoting practices and research that reduce the risk and impact of such injuries in NSW.<\/p>\n
Awards will be offered at a state, region, club or school level across three categories: <\/p>\n
? Education and Promotion ? Safe Sport Practices ? Applied research.<\/p>\n
\u201cI would encourage all eligible groups in our community, including schools, to submit an entry in this year\u2019s awards.\u201d<\/p>\n
The NSW Sporting Injuries Committee has been working closely with the sports community to improve safety, reduce injuries and increase participation for more than 30 years.<\/p>\n
