AN OPEN LETTER<\/p>\n
The Filipino Press Group Sydney cannot protest vigorously enough against reports recently that the Supreme Court of the Philippines has handed down a decision that would effectively legalize plagiarism, an act so basically shameless to civilized society that even school children would recognize it as cheating.<\/p>\n
We share the anger of our colleagues in the Philippines’ press at this act of injustice, committed by the highest-ranking guardians of the sacred laws of the land that is the Supreme Court of the Philippines.<\/p>\n
There must be remedies available that would allow protection to authors and journalists in the Philippines against plagiarism. <\/p>\n
We call on law makers to find them, and to restore some dignity to Filipinos around the world who share the embarrassment brought about by this unacceptable decision of the Supreme Court of the Philippines.<\/p>\n
