Filipino associations donate money to flood victims

Reacting to the news that thousands of Filipinos were affected by the recent floods that hit Queensland, various Filipino associations based in New South Wales sent their donations to help countrymen in the flood-stricken areas.

Among the first to respond was the Philippine Health Care Association of Australia (PHCAA) through its Executive Director Ella Magallanes Martirez. Her decision was supported by PHCAA President Veron Alcantara and Founding Chairman Alfred Silvino who directed association treasurer Julie Nunez to immediately effect a bank transfer of $300 to the Commonwealth Bank account of the Filipino Australian Foundation of Queensland (FAFQ).

As decided by its Board of Directors, the Ateneo Alumni Association Australia also sent $300 to the Queensland Premier’s Flood Relief Appeal. As of this writing, the Premier’s Flood Relief Appeal has reached the $100 million mark.
