Calasiao town hall reduced to ashes

Calasiao Municipal Hall (Calasiao, Pangasinan) was newly-renovated but was reduced to ashes when fire broke down in the early morning of September 15, 2008.

Vice Mayor Ferdinand G. Galang who is the incumbent head of Sangguniang Bayan said that the fire must have started at the Session Hall of Sangguniang Bayan. It engulfed every room in the building and even caused damage to the Senor Tesoro Shrine.

The municipal official then passed a resolution declaring a State of Calamity in the town of Calasiao.

For over 4 decades the Galang Family has been involved in politics in the province of Pangasinan. A young member of the family, Neil Galang has been an active member of the Labor Party in Blacktown for many years.

Reliable sources said that the Training Center behind the building will serve as temporary municipal offices. Vice Mayor Galang could not make an accurate estimate of the actual damages but said that around P50 million would be needed to construct a new building.
