CABALEN, AUSAN DACA!

“We are united by the spirit of fraternal love, bound by a common origin and dialect, of common upbringing, values and mores. To all we stand with humility, to all we extend friendship and camaraderie, to all we take pride of the Capampangan unity.

Times and places change. Anywhere, anytime, the Capampangans go far and away, to meet the challenges of excellence, in leading the unforged path, through trials and sin, through dreams and visions, and through the joys of successes and the pains of failure.

But nothing changes the Capampangan. To us, nothing more is self-fulfilling, nothing is more consoling, and nothing is worth enjoying more than going back to our origin.

Cabalen, the foregoing is the preamble of Aguman Capampangan Australia, Inc. Over the past 20 years, we have existed and continue to be a strong and vibrant association.

In 1990 the Aguman Capampangan was officially registered and it has become the uniting force for all Capampangans in Australia.

Some of the notable projects undertaken for the benefit of cabalens back home in Pampanga and Tarlac are:

? In 1991 the first ever Capampangan Food Festival was held at
Homebush to give the Australian and Filipino community a
smorgasbord of exotic Capampangan dishes and delicacies.

? Staged the one-act play titled “Forever” (directed by the late Enrique
Joven Valdes) the proceeds of which were personally handed over to
Archbishop Aniceto of Pampanga for the building of bunk houses for the
Mt Pinatubo victims.

? Provided assistance for the housing needs of cabalens through the
ANCOP program of Couples for Christ

? Donated two hydraulic pumps for the flood-devastated areas of two
barangays in Bacolor, Pampanga in 1993.

? Provided monetary assistance for the construction of Christ, the Divine
Healer Parish Church at Sta Lucia, and for the renovation and
expansion of the Parish Church at Dolores, both of which are located in
Magalang, Pampanga.

? In 1994 its most notable project, the Aguman Capampangan
Scholarship Programme, was launched and this is still ongoing to-date.
Since its inception, 17 have graduated (5 with “Cum Laude”) who are
now productive professionals in their own right. Currently, the Aguman
supports 2 scholars in each of the following educational institutions:

?Don Honorio Ventura College of Arts and Trades (DHVCAT),
Bacolor, Pampanga
?Pampanga Agricultural College (PAC), Magalang, Pampanga
?Tarlac State University (TSU), Tarlac City
?Tarlac College of Agriculture (TCA), Camiling, Tarlac

In 2006 the Aguman supported the victims of the earthquake and landslides in the Bicol Region.

Moreover, the Aguman Capampangan has continued its active participation in various projects and programs not only of the Filipino-Australian Community but also of the wider Australian society.

In celebration of its 20th Anniversary, the Aguman has launched this call to all cabalens (whether near or far) to renew their memberships for free. Please complete the form below and post it to: Espie Bables at 38 Brier Crescent, Quakers Hill NSW 2763. (Ronnie Dizon)
