Kuwaiti employers abuse OFW

The Philippine Embassy in Kuwait became the refuge of a Filipina domestic helper after she was allegedly maltreated and sexually abused by her employers.

Susan (not her real name) had a chance to escape when her employers went to a shopping mall. She took a taxi and went straight to the Philippine Embassy to seek help.

The Filipina domestic helper alleged that she was made to scrub walls with Chlorox (a bleach) using her bare hands. She was not allowed to use a sponge or gloves to protect her skin.
At one time, she was pinned down to the floor with the help of her employer’s siblings. She was stripped naked while they poured bleach into her vagina. Not satisfied with her torment, they inserted chili peppers into her sex organ.

The pain was excruciating, according to Susan but she endured it all for the sake of her children in the Philippines who were totally dependent on her.

There was a time when her employers did not allow her to sleep for seven days. She was given no food during the period.

Quite often, her employers would poke a knife on her while she pleaded for mercy. She thought she would be killed.

Susan is now staying at the Filipino Resource Center in Kuwait while
charges of grave physical injuries and sexual assault are being prepared against her employers.
