Falun gong practitioner deported to China

Expected to face torture and execution

June 6, 2011. Sydney. A reliable source disclosed that Mr. Guanggeng Tian, a Falun Gong practitioner, was deported today to China.

His story was featured in the May 2011 issue of Philippine Sentinel. For more than 10 years, Mr. Tian has sought asylum in Australia but has failed many times in his attempt to obtain a protection visa. Migration agents have sought ministerial intervention but were likewise unsuccessful. The same source said that Tian has exhausted all possibilities to stay in Australia.

On 6 April 2011, the Department of Immigration has instructed Mr. Tian to buy a plane ticket to China. He was supposed to leave Sydney on 17 April 2011 but chose to remain. Tian’s refusal to buy a plane ticket
Guanggeng Tian compelled authorities to arrest him and detain him at Villawood Centre until today when he was finally deported.

As is the usual practice, police authorities in China will meet Mr. Tian upon his arrival at the airport. It is believed that he will again be tortured, forced to hard labor and eventually be executed.

Such is the fate that awaits Falun Gong practitioners in China. Falun Gong is a system of beliefs and practices founded by Li Hongzhi in 1992.

Ironically or fortunately, Falun gong, just like any other religion, is well tolerated in Australia. Wearing very colourful uniforms, practitioners even participated during the Blacktown City parade on 28 May 2011.
