Artists group aims to raise money for flood victims

ALFA [Artists and Linked Friends in Action] aims to raise $5,000 for survivors of typhoon Sendong in Mindanao through the release of a CD album. The CD, entitled “One” is a collection of original music by local Filipino artists.

The tropical storm which hit Cagayan de Oro and Iligan Cities on December 16, 2011 destroyed entire villages built on sandbars and on riverbanks. The last count of fatalities was 1,259 but many more are unaccounted for.

The funds are intended for those who survived the flood but have to cope with the trauma of losing their loved ones, their homes and properties. They now also face the day-to-day need for food, shelter, clothing, clean water, sanitation and medicines.

Here’s how you can support us achieve our objective:

? Attend the charity album launch in the CBD [10 Shepherd St., Chippendale] on 3 March and in the west [P-Noy Lounge, 24-28 First Avenue, Blacktown] on 17 March, both at 7.30-10.30pm. For only $30, you will help our kababayans in flood-stricken areas in Mindanao and you will also have a night of entertainment, a cd, a free drink, nibbles and a chance to win prizes during the raffle draw.

? Buy an extra CD at the launch or from any of the ALFA nominated contacts or outlets.
To buy the CD, call Violi Calvert on 0408 22 77 94; Nilda Carpo on 0411 521 135; Josie Musa 0422 621 218.
