The Greening of PACC, Schofields by Gerri Musa

“Working together in harmony and cooperation expresses the goodness in our hearts and can be therapeutic” — said Emma de Vera, chairperson of the greening committee. The Philippine Australian Community Foundation (PACF), Inc. has launched its project: Greening Revolution — Sa Kabukiran.

The project is in a 2.2 hectare premises of the Philippine Australian Cultural Centre (PACC) in Schofields.

The committee invites everyone to come and join in the launching and take part in the project. “Please note this is work in progress. We count on everyone’s support. We welcome all suggestions,” Mrs. De Vera added.

As of press time, 50 tons of premium garden soil is needed to start with, 10 tons of which has already been pledged.

The outcome of this greening revolution is not envisioned “to supply a commercial quantity of produce for consumers but the exercise of our will through the ‘bayanihan’ principle that ‘together — we can’ do anything for our sake.” Mrs. de Vera continued.

The project was launched on August 25, 2012. It was held at the PACC complex at 80 Grange Avenue, Schofields.

A Filipino breakfast was served with roast pork at lunch time.
