MPC Officers moving around soliciting pledges

We received reports that some Directors of the Filipino Multi-Purpose Centre (MPC) are actively moving around soliciting pledges from individuals, corporate entities, and associations. They want to obtain signatures authorising a direct debit to bank accounts and/or credit card accounts.

One such individual visited who requested not to be identified said that the team of MPC solicitors include Manny Villon, Luz Tiqui, Amado Jalosjos and Fr. Raul.

It seems that MPC is compelled to move soliciting pledges by way of a direct debit to a bank account to satisfy the requirements of the Diocese of Parramatta from whom another loan application is being made.

We have gathered that many among those who have been approached have demonstrated a lukewarm attitude towards this latest move by MPC.

On a positive note, it may be a good move after all because if they would be able to obtain a loan from the Parramatta Diocese, the money would probably be used to finally build a building complex.

The MPC project is now 20 years old. We

say it is about time they put their act together and accomplish something concrete. Their biggest problem is the fact that the existing MPC officers have apparently lost the confidence of the Filipino community. Not too many are wiling to donate or pledge any more Not too many are willing to donate or pledge any more money, although the amount being solicited is only $10 per month over a period of 12 months. ?
