Greater Western Sydney Business Enterprise Centre (BEC) will receive funding of $200,000 from the Australian Government’s Small Business Advisory Services program to provide advice and assistance to the region’s small businesses.
Congratulating Greater Western Sydney BEC, Federal Member for Greenway Michelle Rowland said that business advisory services are vital to help small businesses grow and succeed.
“Greater Western Sydney BEC will help small businesses meet day-to-day challenges and also maximise their sustainability, productivity and potential for growth,” Ms Rowland said.
“They will receive funding of $100,000 for each of the next two years to provide advice in areas like business and financial planning, business management and networking.”
Federal Member for Chifley Ed Husic said the Small Business Advisory Service has provided over 392,000 separate advisory services to more than 207,000 small businesses around the country since it was established in 2008.
“The Gillard Labor Government understands how important small businesses are to the local community,” Mr Husic said.
“This new support for business advisory services is just one element of the Gillard Labor Government’s continued support for small business.
“We have, for example, made changes to the tax system that will directly benefit the bottom line of small businesses in every sector of our economy and in every part of Australia.
“These include increasing the asset tax write-off threshold so that all small businesses – incorporated or not – will be able to immediately write off assets valued at under $6,500 in the year they buy them.”
“The Gillard Government is very supportive of small businesses expanding locally and globally”, Ms Rowland said, “and is committed to providing well-targeted support and advice for firms to capture benefits of the Asian century”.
The Australia in the Asian Century White Paper released recently, documents for all small and medium-sized business in Australia the many exciting new opportunities on our doorstep.
“The National Broadband Network will greatly assist in opening up markets not previously available to them, and will greatly benefit Australia’s small businesses”, Ms Rowland said.
