Price and Amery upset over closure of bank

Federal Member for Chifley, Roger Price has raised the closure of the Rooty Hill Branch of the Commonwealth Bank with the Prime Minister and the Treasurer, demanding answers from the Bank as to why the Branch is closing.

Both Mr Price and State Member for Mount Druitt, Richard Amery are upset at the manner in which they were advised of the closure.

“When the ANZ Bank closed the Mount Druitt Branch, they came to see me and explained their decision and I appreciated the courtesy they extended to me in doing that.”  Mr Price said.

“The Commonwealth Bank have offered no reason for closing the Rooty Hill Branch other than their lease expiring later in the year.”

Mr Price has also written to the Chair of the House of Representatives Banking and Economics Committee, Mr Craig Thomson MP requesting that the Committee examine the need to establish protocols for closing metropolitan branches, similar to the protocols developed by the Australian Bankers’ Association for closing rural and regional branches. – ?
