Countdown to 12th Asian Seniors Tenpin Bowling Championship

Tenpin Bowling Australia is preparing to host an exciting international bowling tournament attracting close to 200 players and officials at AMF’s state-of-the-art, 34-lane bowling centre in the Rooty Hill RSL complex in Sydney’s west.

Bowlers will compete for Gold, Silver and Bronze medals in the 12th Asian Seniors Bowling Championship in two categories – Seniors and Grand Seniors.

Accompanied by coaches and technical officials, teams of men and women aged 50 and over (Seniors division), and 60 and over (Grand Seniors) are travelling from Guam, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, The Philippines and right around Australia to compete in the biennial Championship that was last held in Guam in 2011.

Following the Asian Seniors Bowling Federation General Assembly and Team Managers’ meeting on Thursday, 14 November, and Official Practice on 15 November the week-long program of Singles, Doubles and Teams competition will culminate on 21 November with the final rounds of the Masters events in Seniors and Grand Seniors divisions, showcasing the top 16 male and female bowlers in a head to head format to determine the individual champions.

All Events totals after 18 games (i.e. based on each bowler’s accumulated individual scores in all three events) will determine the top 16 male and female bowlers eligible for the Masters Finals.

The Masters Finals will be contested on Wednesday, 20 November and Thursday 21 November in a round robin format, starting from scratch and with a bonus of 10 pins for each match won and 5 pins for a tie. The first six game block will be bowled on Wednesday morning commencing at 9am and the second six games on Thursday morning.

The Masters event Awards ceremony will be held in the Centre at 3pm on Thursday, followed by a gala Victory Banquet in the Rooty Hill RSL Club premises.

Spectators are welcome to watch the action on the lanes at AMF Rooty Hill RSL throughout the week. Events begin at 9am daily and admission is free.
