Businessman calls for unification

Coming from a family who has been in politics in the Philippines for over 40 years, Sydney home loans provider Neil Galang is among the many Filipinos who have expressed grief over the death of former Philippine president Cory Aquino. Mr. Galang has prepared a proposal addressed to Philippine Congress to declare his “Tita Cory” a national hero.

When asked what qualification Mrs. Aquino has earned for such an honor, Galang was quick to respond: “She restored democracy to our country.” He added. “When Mrs. Aquino initiated the bloodless People Power Revolution, she actually caused former dictator Ferdinand Marcos to flee and relinquish power.”

Galang expressed admiration for the diplomatic gesture demonstrated by Bongbong and Aimee Marcos when the two came to the wake of Mrs. Aquino. Galang said that it might as well be the start of unification among the Filipinos, not only in the Philippines but also worldwide.
