Theresians get set for 2014 reunion

Basking in the success of their well-attended gathering, organisers of the 2013 St. Theresa’s College alumnae reunion met at Baulkham Hills NSW recently to hand-over duties to the 2014 team.

Reiterating the ‘One STC’ concept, alumnae who attended the college’s Baguio, Cebu, Manila and Quezon City campuses, unite each year in October to celebrate, remember and reinforce the education they received from the ICM nuns.

“It is a time for reflection,” says vet med Rosette Enriquez, “because the values we learned at STC are the same ones we are imparting to our children.”

Financial whiz Carol Alix-Limbo recalls the discipline of study St. Theresa’s College required from students.

“We were balancing our major subjects with Theology, English, and Philosophy for each semester we were in college,” she says.

Seventy former students joined the 2013 reunion at Rouse Hill, and the 2014 team will be inviting other Theresians who now call Australia home to attend the next.

The 2014 team includes Bernadette Delgado, Maricar Delgado Zozobrado, Paula Nuguid Sta. Barbara, Yolanda Roxas, Imelda Argel and Evelyn Opilas.

St. Theresa’s College was named after St Theresa of Avila, founder of the Discalced Carmelites, who was declared a Doctor of the Catholic Church in 1970 for her writing and teaching on prayer.

STC used to run college departments in Cebu, Manila and Quezon City. Today only STC Cebu maintains a college department; STC Manila has closed; while STC QC has retained its high school department.
