Interstate fans travel to Sydney for Bamboo’s concert

Jo Lee Llano from Cairns QLD bought 3 VIP concert tickets and was “super-excited indeed” to travel approximately 2,500 kms to Sydney. She watched Bamboo’s only concert in the Australian east coast  last March 27.

For many, it was worth the long travel. Bamboo Mañalac is the Philippines’ Prince of Rock and a well-respected, award-winning singer and songwriter. Fresh from his sold out concerts in US, Canada, Ireland, Japan, and recently Dubai, the former Rivermaya front man and now ‘Coach Bamboo” of The Voice (Philippines) performed his greatest hits including Noypi, Ulan, Elisi, 214, Hallelujah, and Awit ng Kabataan.

Bamboo’s concert was held at the Whitlam Centre, Liverpool, a modern stadium with a maximum capacity of 3,200 people. Supporting the concert were very promising local performers: Trinity Young, Henna Perez, Ylona Garcia; and Sydney and Melbourne rock bands Kakulay, Negative Saints and Our Tribe.

“Bamboo is a rock icon whose songs define our generation and whose staying power in the music industry is admirable. When he left Rivermaya in 1998 at the peak of the band’s career, we waited for five years for him to return. And return big time he did. With his hit song Noypi, Bamboo once again became the voice of the Filipinos, no matter who or where you are.   The songs in his new album No Water No Moon are generally more melodic than his previous hits but it doesn’t  change our view that Bamboo is still the same musical, creative genius that he is. We’re very proud to bring his unique talents, including his signature ‘jump’ to Sydney”, said a representative from producer Cherry Bomba.
