Philippine’s most wanted: P5 million reward

The son of a prominent jeweller who is wanted for the killing of two brothers in Laguna a few years ago was located in the United States and the Department of Justice has asked the US government to extradite him, an official of the National Bureau of Investigation said. “He can be easily arrested if he is an illegal alien.

Panlilio, son of the late jeweller Fe Sarmiento-Panlilio, is the primary suspect in the killing of Albert Gutierrez, 31, and his brother Ariel Real, 28, who were found dead in Barangay Makiling in Calamba City on July 2003.

Diaz said the FBI and Interpol hunted down Panlilio at the request of NBI who acted on the six-year-old double-murder and robbery case upon the appeal of the victims’ mother, lawyer Carmencita de Castro.

However, Diaz said US justice department sees “no ground for summary deportation against the suspect because he possessed legal papers.”

Panlilio, a resident of 1686 Dasmariñas Ave., Dasmariñas Village, Makati City, is one of the 20 most wanted men in the country.

Panlilio was charged with robbery with homicide before the Calamba City Regional Trial Court. His warrant of arrest was issued by Judge Antonio Manzano of the Calamba City RTC.

Police said Panlilio shot the victims with a .9mm pistol. Gutierrez sustained five gunshot wounds while Real was hit eight times in different parts of the body. Panlilio also allegedly took the bag containing the money intended to redeem the Starex van.

Panlilio is now believed to be hiding somewhere in Australia using a different name in his passport. – ?
