Marriage Equality is dumb

It is sad that the Australian Labor Party (ALP) refers to this dumb proposal as ‘marriage equality.’ Maybe a better and more straight forward term to use — though still dumb — is ‘same-sex marriage’ or ‘gay marriage.’

I call it dumb because marriage, by any definition, is the union between a man and a woman. That is how Webster, Macquarie or any dictionary defines it and that is the correct meaning of marriage. When God created creatures to inhabit the earth, it was never His intention for man to unite with another man, or for a woman to unite with another woman. I challenge any gay or lesbian couple to show me if there is such a section in the Scriptures.

Incidentally, Katy Faust, an American who was guest in ABC’s Q&A on August 18 was raised by female same-sex parents. Ironically, Ms. Faust during the show campaigned against same-sex marriage and parenting.

In the animal kingdom, it is always the male and female of any species that unite. Put two male dogs and one female in the same backyard and the two males are most likely to fight each other to death. That is also true in the case of our feathered friends. It is not a good idea to place two male or two female birds in the same cage. Same sex birds will never lay any egg and will most likely fight.

One good thing about Prime Minister Tony Abbott is that ALP’s proposal on the so-called marriage equality is not in his priority list. There is possibility of a referendum taking place but the ALP has announced that its proposal will happen once it takes control of Parliament.

Statistics

According to the 2011 Census, there were around 33,700 same-sex couples in Australia, with 17,600 male same-sex couples and 16,100 female same-sex couples. Same-sex couples represented only about 1% of all couples in Australia. (Source: Australian Bureau of Statistics)

Thank God, these homosexuals are still the minority and hopefully, will never dominate the earth. As I stated in my editorial in the July 2015 issue, these gay couples may want to live under one roof. But for them to demand that their union be solemnised or made legitimate should never happen in Australia, in the Philippines or anywhere else in the world. Sadly, the US Congress recently made it legitimate.

Hate email

Lastly, I want the readers to know that I received a hate email that vilified me because of the July editorial. It was written by a person who used the name “Dave Rodney.” He is obviously gay. I shall not bother glorify him by publishing what he wrote. suffice it to say that he is unprincipled for calling me names such as “baboon” and definitely a coward for using a fictitious name. He is not so smart after all because his real identity and actual location has been traced through his IP address. He must be in hiding by now because the police will surely put him behind bars for verbal abuse and bullying. — Dino Crescini
