Filipino Press group to launch appeal for Maguindanao journalists

In a breakfast meeting held at the Rooty Hill RSL, members of the Filipino Press Club of Sydney agreed to launch an appeal for funds to help families of media people who lost their lives in a recent massacre in Maguindanao.

Among those present were press club founder and Chairman Jaime K. Pimentel of Sandigan News, Dino Crescini of Philippine Sentinel, Romy Cayabyab of The Filipino Australian, Nonoy Perdon of Bayanihan News, Neria Soliman, food columnist of Philippine Community Herald, and Titus Filio of Pinoy Express.

For this purpose, Mr. Pimentel agreed to open a trust bank account at ANZ in Burwood, NSW. Ms Soliman will assist by enlisting affiliate organisations of the Philippine Community Council of NSW to join the funds appeal.

The project will commence immediately.

Before the meeting adjourned, Pimentel invited members of Filipino media to a Christmas barbeque in his home in Burwood sometime before or after the Christmas holidays.

All those interested to join the party are requested to send him an email at
