A matter of grandstanding

A few weeks ago, a community organisation purporting to represent “Filipino organisations onshore and offshore,” issued a media release stating that it is a non-partisan group, and yet made a futile attempt to mobilise itself as “a political force for voting” in the upcoming May 2010 Philippine elections.

With the recent PCC-NSW lesson, I am now becoming sceptical of organisations claiming to
Major Tom Baena represent Filipinos. I wonder how many members
do these organisations actually have? And has their claim of representing Filipinos been vectored? What standards were used in validating their claims of being representatives and advocates of Filipino groups?

Filipino media should continue their vigilance on people who are just grandstanding and should not allow their publications to be used as a platform for people seeking media exposure. The media should continue upholding its role of reporting truth and fairness. Anything less than that would mean the media having poor judgment.
