US$1.5 billion Casino in RP

He scrapped plans to build what would have been the world’s tallest casino in Las Vegas. Now James Packer is about to sign a deal to build a US$1.5 billion (AUD1.6 B) hotel and casino complex in the Philippines.

According to the South China Morning Post, the announcement was made by Rafael Butch Francisco, President and CEO of Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR).

Known to be the wealthiest man in Australia, Mr. Packer owns Bloombury Investments, a company based in the British Virgin Islands. The company has been confirmed as one of four local and international developers seeking to secure gaming licences and join the mega-project to build a Las Vegas-style casino and entertainment hub.

Bloombury is planning to build three luxury hotels, upmarket shops, restaurants and an entertainment and sports centre on a reclaimed area facing Manila Bay.
