With still two remaining years in his term, ALP Cr. Charlie Lowles stepped down as Mayor of the City of Blacktown giving way to Cr. Alan Pendleton to continue his term.
The turn over happened during a meeting on Wednesday, 22 September 2010 inside the Blacktown City Council Chambers. The news was confirmed by no less than Cr. Charlie Lowles the following day when this writer bumped into him at Crystal Seafood Restaurant in Blacktown. Although the former mayor was smiling as he always does when appearing in public, the sadness on his face was still evident.
The next local election is scheduled to be held on March 2011.
