Nominations open for Australian of the Year Award

Federal Member for Chifley, Roger Price has welcomed the opening of nominations for the Australian of the Year Awards 2009 by the Prime Minister Hon. Kevin Rudd. MP.

“This is an opportunity for Chifley residents to nominate someone they feel has positively impacted our community,” Mr. Price said.

“There are many deserving local residents who have made significant contributions to our community through their leadership and by giving up their time and energy.”

Nominations are invited in four categories:

  • Australian of the Year
  • Senior Australian of the Year (60 Yrs & over)
  • Australia’s Local Hero
  • Young Australian of the Year (16 to 30 years)

Nominations can be made online at http://www.australianoftheyear.gov.au, by contacting Mr. Price’s office on 9625 4344, or by visiting your local Commonwealth Bank. Nominations in all categories close on Sunday 31st August 2008 with recipients announced in Canberra on Australia Day Eve 2009.

”This is also the 30th Anniversary of the Young Australian of the Year Award and it’s a good opportunity to recognise the role young people play.”
