Husband seeks cancellation of wife’s visa

For undisclosed reasons, a man sought the cancellation of his wife’s visa and asked the Department of Immigration for the immediate deportation of his Filipina wife.

Dolores (not her real name) approached Mr. Neil Galang, president of Blacktown Migrant Workers Union who immediately went to the rescue. She flew in from Queensland and Mr. Galang met her at Sydney Airport. He even gallantly provided the distressed woman temporary accommodations while her case was being evaluated by the department.

Galang’s prompt action resulted in DIAC’s decision not to cancel Dolores’ visa and allow her continued stay in Australia.

Mr. Galang has been nominated as one of Australia’s most helpful persons. Now listed as a semi-finalist, he is hopeful that he would be among the seven winners to be awarded during the Oprah Winfrey Show in Sydney. – ?
