SSC Alumnae sponsor news workshop

St Scholastica’s College Alumnae Association (SSCAA) sponsored a News/Press Release Workshop on Saturday, November 13, at Max Webber Library conference room in Blacktown.

The News Writing Workshop required topics from participants in real terms, concluding with a press release for submission to local media.

Workshop instructor Jaime Pimentel, a Fairfax Media journalist, started with details on how to interact with the press then covered the elements of a news story, the headline and the format of a press release.

Mr Pimentel concluded with pointers on making
a news report readable. He assigned each participant to write a press release for a specific organisation, which is to be issued to the local press.

The workshop participants were Neria Soliman of Filipino Australian Movement for Empowerment (FAME) and SSCAA, Nilda Carpo of Marilag Dancers, Baby Kasilag and Bernie Bautista of Hot Mamaz, Nina Demonteverde of Wolli Creek Preservation Society, Albert Dimarucut of Tarlac Association of NSW and Friends, Albert Prias of Flipino Lesbian and Gay Community and Friends (FLAGCOM), Joffre Balce of Association for Good Government, and Cita Hoersch, incumbent chairperson of SSCAA.

A Certificate of Attendance was presented to each participant who completed all workshop assignments. – ?
