Defamation case filed against Philippine Tribune

Two members of APSL Inc. have filed a court suit of defamation against Philippine Tribune and its editor Dino Crescini. The Statement of Claim was personally delivered on 7 August 2008 to the latter’s office by one of the plaintiffs, Cresencio Pilao who is the incumbent Commander of Australia Philippines Services League. He was accompanied by a certain Ricardo Gerial of Quakers Hill. The other plaintiff is Arturo Sayas. Both Pilao and Sayas are reportedly ex-servicemen of the Philippine Air Force.

The case emanates from an editorial that appeared in Philippine Tribune on September 2007.

Three witnesses collaborate having read the editorial in the Philippine Tribune: Lucas Cayanan, Dorothy del Villar and Ricardo Gerial. The solicitor handling the case for the plaintiff is Mrs. Lolita Farmer.

Farmer is the head of Global Filipinos Australia (GFA) while Sayas, Pilao, Cayanan, and del Villar are all known to be active members of GFA.
